New Rutherford Apiaries is seeking one Apiary Supervisor and one Apiary Technician for the 2027 beekeeping season.

APIARY SUPERVISOR – NOC 82030
1 position. Seasonal full-time employment, approximately 8 months, March 8 to November 8, 2027. $16.70 - $17.60/hour, 40 hours/week. Additional hours may be required during peak season.

Minimum 5 years commercial beekeeping experience and valid driver’s licence required. Must be capable of independently managing commercial bee yards and supervising a small crew.

Duties include assessing colony strength, health and production requirements; feeding and treating colonies; making splits and replacement colonies; queen introduction and queen-rearing work; supering and moving colonies; harvesting and extracting honey; and preparing colonies for winter. Supervisor will plan and direct daily work for up to three apiary employees; assign and monitor work; independently travel to and manage bee yards; make day-to-day decisions regarding feeding, treatment, splitting, supering and honey removal; maintain field and production records; monitor pest and disease controls; and oversee safe use and routine maintenance of apiary equipment.

APIARY TECHNICIAN – NOC 84120
1 position. Seasonal full-time employment, approximately 6.5 months (200 days) March 22 to October 8, 2027. $16.40 - $17.00/hour, 40 hours/week. Additional hours may be required during peak season.

Commercial beekeeping experience required. Duties include inspecting colonies and assessing bee health and colony strength; feeding and medicating colonies; assisting with disease and pest control; making colony increases; queen introduction and queen-rearing work; assembling and maintaining beekeeping equipment; moving, loading and unloading colonies; adding and removing honey supers; harvesting and extracting honey; handling honey and beeswax; and cleaning and maintaining apiary equipment and work areas.

Both positions involve physically demanding outdoor work, repetitive lifting of over 50 lbs, and working in varying weather conditions. Weekend and seasonal overtime work may be required.
